Choate Student Work Policy Will Delamater asked me to post this policy that was approved by the Senior Administration in 2004, but never published in the Student Handbook. I'm curious to hear your feedback on the policy and whether you think it is still appropriate two years later.

Emily's projector keeps dropping the signal. She has been provided with a hardwire but this requires closing the tablet to us the signal switching key combination, in her case Fn+F7.

Getting the signal through the network with the projector having a static IP address is much easier than the other setups.

However, you lose a little speed through the network. Don't try to play a video through your computer.

When connecting to your wireless projector, you must be connected to the network that the projector creates. Double click on the icon for the wireless network in the lower right of your screen to get to those choices.

Once the school network is renamed, we will be able to work through the network and be connected wirelessly to the projector and the Internet at the same time.

In order to get your blog entries visible in an RSS reader and searchable at TeacherPlaece, you need to do two things.

Be sure to choose "public" in the Access Restrictions section.

And be REALLY sure to put "tablet" in the keywords box.

I have set it up so that this post in my blog should be fed into the community blog.  Let's see if it works!

I am posting to see if FeedBlitz picks this up and delivers it to my email.  I will let you know how to do this in a later post!

Tablets are up and running at ACDS. Emily used her tablet and Journal software to make and display seating charts. Chris is using his tablet to display and annotate Powerpoint for his science classrooms.

Emily is signed up for the TeacherPlaces Tablet community and Tim will be later this afternoon.

I have set up a subscription at FeedBlitz that will allow community members to receive a notice when new items are posted with the tag "plugged-in."  If we all use this tag for our posts, we should get all the messages that concern Plugged-in to Reading.

Just click here to go to the subscription page.

On Friday morning I had the chance to visit Ross Anderson's classroom at Sligh Middle.  What a lively Plugged-in to Reading lesson was going on.  Mr. Anderson had the students listening to the CD of The Skin I'm In and taking notes, recording questions, and so forth, as a shared reading activity for the whole class.  Then they answered questions, discussed vocabulary, and ultimately read aloud the predictions they had made a week earlier when Mr. Anderson introduced the book.  Some of the students also shared their work on the "What does this face say to the world?" graphic organizer--if we can get a scan of one of these I will share it in the resources section.  The students were buzzing with their work on the "In other words" g/o; I learned some new slang myself.
