I am currently starting WRINGER, my first experience with Plugged into Reading. Anything I should be aware of that someone has encountered? Any good ideas?
Thanks, Judi

Hi, Judi. Well, this post is a bit late so I suspect you've already started Wringer. I wonder how it's going with your students. I teach high school so I don't teach this particular book. In general, I would say that it always takes my students a day or two to get used to the audio. There are sometimes complaints at the beginning so I just make it clear that we will listen for x number of pages and then if the class chooses, we will read without the audio. This makes them happy because they feel like they have a choice and all of my classes have chosen to listen to the audio once they get used to it. I think it's just a matter of adjusting to a new reader - a new voice.
The only other general thing I might add is that when I first started PITR I wanted to do many of the activities and use lots of graphic organizers and my students found that overwhelming. I had to learn to choose one or two of the most important strategies to work with.
I hope you and your students are having a good experience with PITR. I look forward to reading future posts to see what was successful and what you need to adjust.
